The SCRC released the revised Options Analysis Report on 29 September 2021.
There was a Special Meeting on 20 October for Councillors to consider the report and decide what steps to be taken from that point on.
Special Meeting transcript
The Council released this information prior to the meeting:
Special Meeting – Mass Transit Project, 20 October 2021
To get a full sense of what is being proposed it will be necessary to view the Agenda for the meeting and the OA report itself. Note the report has been divided into 23 separate sections which are all accessible, albeit with some difficulty, from the link provided above.
Note: when accessing the SM Agenda make sure to choose October and 2021 at the top of the Meetings, minutes and agenda page of the SCRC’s website and click the Search button.
You will then need to scroll down to open or download the Special Meeting Agenda.
If you scroll further, you will see a link to the Agenda attachments; Appendix A will open the cover page of the OA document only (which shows the document to be 785 pages long). To get to the actual document contents you will then need to click the Click Here to Access Appendix A link which will take you to the Council’s WebDrawer which lists the 23 components of the Options Analysis! Note: this may take a while to load.
You can then choose to Preview or Download the individual components of the OA.
Public consultation on the Mass Transit Project has now ended.
This page is intended to provide as much information as possible to our members and the general community on this major project.
Useful state resources
Queensland has developed (via the Department of Transport and Main Roads) Regional Transport Plans that cover the entire state. These plans will guide the planning of an efficient and responsive transport system in Queensland over the next 15 years. You can find the RTPs here – DTMR Regional Transport Plans. If you scroll down the target page you will find the South East Queensland Regional Transport Plans which you can download. Chapter 4 (p 59) of this document relates to Noosa and the Sunshine Coast.
Useful SCRC resources
SCRC Mass Transit Project information can be found here. This information is updated on a regular basis and is worth checking from time to time – you can view the sub pages by scrolling down the landing page and clicking on the category of interest.
Community Engagement update
Population Growth – Fact Sheet 14
This document states: “The provisions of the existing Sunshine Coast planning scheme allows for a large proportion of the projected 25,500 dwellings to be accommodated in the Urban Corridor. About 14,500 dwellings are able to be accommodated in the existing centres of Maroochydore, Mooloolaba, Kawana and Caloundra. Since 2016, about 6000 dwellings have already been built in the Sunshine Coast Urban corridor.
This leaves around an additional 5000 dwellings that need to be built in the corridor by 2041 that are not yet provided for in current planning provisions [OSCAR emphasis]. How these dwellings are best accommodated in the Sunshine Coast Urban Corridor will be part of this community engagement.”
